Valtteri Bottas managed to post the fastest laptime of testing to put Mercedes on top with a 1:15.732.
The Finn managed to clock 65 laps in the morning session with Lewis Hamilton adding 73 more laps to the German teams total.
Compare that to Ferrari, who had their first breakdown of the year, who could only manage 100 laps throughout the day. Once again though, Ferrari have shown no desire to put in a low fuel laptime.
Nicholas Latifi in the Williams also stopped on track meaning the Canadian rookie could only manage 72 laps for the British outfit and Haas’ Kevin Magnussen hit the barriers, after losing the rear end on the exit of turn 7.
Elsewhere, Esteban Ocon was best of the rest for a struggling Renault team. Today, the French manufacturer managed to complete 169 laps -the most of any team today-.
The final three days of testing start next Wednesday at Barcelona.
