The world champion Marc Marquez cruised to another victory in 2019 at the Japanese Grand Prix!
The Spaniard took his 10th win of the season with Fabio Quartararo -once again- being the only rider looking to give Marquez a run for his money. Despite all of the Frenchman’s efforts, his tyres were degrading at a rapid pace and was fending off Andrea Dovizioso at the end for 2nd.
Dovizioso and Ducati will be happy with a podium after it seemed that halfway through, it was going to be Maverick Vinales who would take the final podium spot, with his usual late race pace. However, the Italian fended off the Yamaha to take his 100th grand prix podium. Vinales would come home in 4th.
It seemed that Franco Morbidelli was going to finish in 5th but Britain’s Cal Crutchlow managed to pass the Italian on the line showing the horsepower of the Honda and the lack of horsepower of the Yamaha. A great result for Crutchlow after a very difficult 2019.
The Suzuki’s of Alex Rins and Joan Mir came home in 7th and 8th ahead of Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci. Jack Miller would round out the top 10.
Valentino Rossi was struggling throughout the whole of the weekend and his misery was piled on after crashing out while in 11th. Talking about struggling, his ex teammate Jorge Lorenzo finished down in 17th 40 seconds off his teammate.
