Marc Marquez kept his unbeaten run at the Sachsenring in tact with a dominant performance and extends his championship lead to 58 points!
The Repsol Honda man led from lights to flag to take his 7th consecutive MotoGP win, after taking his 7th consecutive pole yesterday. There was no competition towards Marquez and the only man who looked to even have a sniff of the Spaniard’s pace -Alex Rins- crashed.
After his first win in 2019 last time out at Assen, Maverick Vinales bought home yet another positive result for Yamaha with 2nd. The Spaniard was under pressure most of the race from Britain’s Cal Crutchlow. Despite the LCR Honda man not managing to pass Vinales, he bought home a valuable podium.
The Sachsenring is not a Ducati track so the Italian outfit knew they were not in contention for victory. However, the 2 factory riders along with Pramac’s Jack Miller had a great scrap for 4th. Petrucci managed to edge out Dovizioso with Miller in 5th.
Joan Mir had a great race managing to finish in 7th ahead of the Yamaha’s of Franko Morbidelli and Valentino Rossi. Morbidelli’s teammate Fabio Quartararo sadly crashed out on the opening lap.
Elsewhere, Stefan Bradl managed to bring home a top 10 finish, in front of his home crowd. Jorge Lorenzo should be fit for the Czech Grand Prix which is in just under a months time. MotoGP now have their summer break with the chasing pack having a lot of work to do to catch up to Marquez.
