Red Bull driver Pierre Gasly has been excluded from the results in qualifying because his car breached fuel flow rules.
Although the decision makes no difference since he was starting from the pitlane anyway due to missing the weighbridge at the end of Friday practice, it does mean his Q1 time will be removed.
He set the fastest time in the session before red flags called an end to the first part of qualifying, (read more here.)
The summons to the stewards is the first time that a breach of the fuel flow limit of 100kg per hour had been found in qualifying.
An FIA statement from technical delegate Jo Bauer stated:
“During the qualifying session 1 at 17:13hrs car number 10, driver Pierre Gasly, had exceeded the maximum allowed fuel mass flow of 100 kg/h when doing the fastest lap.”
