Dan Cammish tops first test session at Thruxton

Halfords Yuasa Racing’s Dan Cammish topped the morning test session at Thruxton whilst completing a total of 23 laps around the Hampshire-based circuit.

Reigning and defending British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington was second fastest and six-tenths slower than Cammish whilst his Championship rival last year, Tom Ingram finished the session third quickest as he continues to try and adapt to his new Toyota Corolla.

Tom Ingram currently sits tenth in the driver’s standings.

The 2017 Champion and Brands Hatch Indy pole sitter Ashley Sutton had a busy session completing a total of 25 laps and finished the session fourth, whilst his teammate Senna Proctor languished down in 16th as he tries to get used to his rear wheel drive Subaru Levorg after spending the last two seasons in front wheel drive machinery.

Rory Butcher, fresh from his maiden victory in the BTCC last time out was fifth quickest, just over a second off the lap time set by Cammish.

He was followed by the two other West Surrey Racing cars of Tom Oliphant and Brands Hatch race winner Andrew Jordan. Turkington, Oliphant and Jordan all put a lot of laps on the board as they all tried to understand their new BMW 330i M Sport even more.

Andrew Jordan gave the new BMW 330i M Sport its first win last time out at Brands Hatch.

Aiden Moffat finished an impressive eighth quickest with Jason Plato ending the session ninth quickest as he tries to get used to front wheel drive again.

Sam Tordoff rounded out the top-ten after a disappointing opening weekend at Brands Hatch last time out.

Jake Hill was 11th with Rob Collard setting the 12th fastest time whilst current Championship leader Josh Cook set the 13th fastest time.

Adam Morgan finished the session 14th with Stephen Jelley rounding out the top 15.

The second session gets underway at 15:10 this afternoon. You can follow all the action and timings here: https://livetiming.tsl-timing.com/191641
