Alex Rins took his first MotoGP victory after Marc Marquez crashed out while leading at COTA!
The Suzuki rider battled hard with Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi and took the lead with four laps to go. As well as it being Rins’ first MotoGP victory, it was Suzuki’s first win since Maverick Vinales at Silverstone in 2016!
Rossi tried his absolute best to dethrone Rins but he just didn’t have the laps to pass the Suzuki rider. His teammate had an absolute nightmare after being given a ride through penalty for a jump start and eventually finished in 11th.
Jack Miller managed to secure his second MotoGP podium, with his only podium being when he took that stunning victory for Marc VDS in Assen in 2016.
Once again, Marc Marquez was dominant at COTA but the Spaniard pushed too hard into turn 12 and lost the front. All of this means that Marquez falls down to 4th in the world championship. The leader of the world championship is Andrea Dovizioso who after a very disappointing Saturday, managed to come back strong today with a hard fought 4th position.
The Petronas Yamaha team managed to have another strong weekend with Franco Morbidelli in a stunning 5th and Fabio Quartararo also in a very strong 7th.
Cal Crutchlow was on course for a very strong race but crashed at turn 11. What will be more disappointing for Cal was that he was ahead of Rins when he crashed.
The third factory Honda of Jorge Lorenzo then retired thanks to a mechanical issue. An absolute disastrous weekend for Honda!
