Despite having recent surgery on his left shoulder, Marc Marquez topped the first 2019 test at Sepang!
The 7 times world champion posted a 1:59.621 on his Repsol Honda followed by Suzuki’s Alex Rins with a 1:59.880.
Marquez finished the test early due to his surgery but is already looking in good shape ahead of 2019. Talking about injuries, Cal Crutchlow returned to the track for the first time since his season ending crash at last years Australian Grand Prix. The Brit finished in 14th position with a 2:00.681.
Yamaha and Ducati will both want to challenge Marquez and Honda for the title, this year. Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi were 3rd and 6th with the two Ducati’s of Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso 5th and 8th respectively.
The top rookie of the test was Pramac’s Pecco Bagnaia who posted a 2:00.694 to finish 15th in the standings.
Marquez’s teammate, Jorge Lorenzo was ruled out of this test due to breaking his wrist while training for the new season. The Spaniard is due to be back for the Qatar test.
