German F3 driver Sophia Floersch is conscious in hospital after a truly terrifying accident at the Macau GP today, organisers confirmed.
The driver was launched into the air and way over the barriers, through fencing and into a photographers bunker before landing back on its wheels.
The initial reports suggest that Sophia hit a kerb, took off and then the car can be seen hitting the top of the TOM’s car, driven by Sho Tusboi.
Both drivers are conscious, with two photographers and a marshal also being taken to hospital.
Our thoughts are with all involved.
The race was restarted after an hour.
UPDATE: Floersch has been diagnosed with a spinal fracture, while others involved have less serious injuries.
