Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez won for the first time since Germany after Jorge Lorenzo crashed at the first corner.
Lorenzo started on pole but his race would end after 10 seconds as Marquez ran wide into turn 1 and Lorenzo being on the outside. All of this meant Lorenzo crashed from the high side and was stretched off with a dislocated toe.
This incident meant Andrea Dovizioso led the first few laps ahead of Marquez along with the 2 Suzuki’s of Alex Rins and Andrea Iannone. Marquez, despite the rear tyre, kept up with Dovizioso and still had the pace to battle with the Ducati and break away with 3 laps to go!
Andrea Iannone came out on top of the Suzuki battle and kept up with the front 2 -and even led for 10 seconds- to give Suzuki a well deserved rostrum. Alex Rins would eventually finish in 4th position.
The biggest result of the day would go to Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro! The Spaniard would finish in 6th position only behind the 2 Repsol Honda’s, 2 Suzuki’s and Dovizioso.
Cal Crutchlow was set to have a strong race after qualifying 4th but a crash on lap 7 would finish his weekend.
