WSR secured an 1-2-3 in an impressive day at Oulton Park for Collard, Jordan and Turkington!
Collard got the jump on Austin just before some chaos in the midfield. Thanks to a massive crash involving Smiley, Thompson, Oliphant, Butcher and others, there was a red flag. They lined up a restart in their original positions giving Austin a second bite at the cherry. However, Collard produced another stunning start to take the lead from Alfa Romeo.
Austin was nailed on for 2nd until a driveshaft problem stopped his progress with 3 laps to go. Justice did not fit the crime as he was still applying pressure on race leader Collard.
Andrew Jordan jumped both of the Motorbase cars at the start to put him straight into the podium positions and avoided some of the chaos behind.
Both of the Motorbase cars with their heavy ballast struggled to keep their strong early positions with Chilton finishing in 7th and James Cole in 10th.
Race 2 winner, Colin Turkington passed James Cole for 4th with Jack Goff following the BMW through. Thanks to Austin’s problems, this pass was for the final podium position.
Adam Morgan had a terrible race 1 and 2 but had a very strong race 3. Without any ballast, he managed to pass other drivers around him to finish in a solid 5th.
Matt Neal had a strong race 2 but he battled to hard with Tom Ingram and ran wide onto the grass and eventually finished in 14th. Neal’s teammate Dan Cammish rounded off a terrible weekend with a puncture on lap 2 after contact with Ollie Jackson, who also got a puncture.
Matt Simpson and Sam Tordoff did not start after an engine issue for Simpson and a fire in race 2 for Tordoff.
