Simpson took his first win in a controlled drive despite smoke issues at a sunny Oulton Park!
Tom Chilton jumped teammate Tordoff at the start and had to defend heavily from BMW’s Andrew Jordan. It seemed that Chilton was going to finish 2nd but Simpson struggled on the last lap and had to defend into the last corner to make sure he took his first victory with Chilton and Jordan finishing on the podium.
Andrew Jordan probably had the best pace of the front runners but struggled to pass Chilton to try and put pressure on Simpson but had to settle for 3rd.
Adam Morgan and Josh Cook who were first and second in the championship, failed to score any points after finishing 16th and 17th respectively.
Tom Ingram started a disappointing 17th and only managed to sneak in one point in 15th and as a result, he has dropped to 5th in the championship.
The real championship winner was Jack Goff who despite only finishing in 8th, is now only 5 points off Adam Morgan at the top of the standings.
Colin Turkington is also now only 8 points off the top of the standings after finishing in a respectable 6th position.
Last years champion, Ashley Sutton, dropped 8 places on the opening laps and fell to 23rd and could only manage to climb to 21st to round out another dreadful race for Subaru.
